Athletics

ACTIVE KIDS

The idea behind “ Active Kids” is that you can develop and increase your own fitness levels at your own pace. Students will also improve gross motor skills through play. Many of the activities include running, jumping, leaping, balancing, hopscotch, tossing and catching objects of different sizes and a variety of obstacle course. Each class will start with 5 minutes of mindfulness yoga.

BASKETBALL

Does your child want to learn the game or become an even better player? If so, then this class is for you. In this comprehensive instructional basketball program, your child will learn all the fundamentals of the game. Kids will receive small group and some individual instruction as well as real-game full court experience. They will learn discipline and sportsmanship in a fun and competitive environment. Regardless of the skill level, this program will be a benefit to his/her game.

capoeira

This class is a fun and engaging medium to teach students about the impact of African culture through the world and expose them to one of the many art forms of the African Diaspora. Capoeira is a unique art form that blends self-defense, acrobatics, dance-like movements, and music into a martial art. Capoeira also promotes self-expression so students will have fun while learning in this active class.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football teaches football fundamentals in a fun, non-contact environment. Passing, catching, route running all learned through fun drills and team games. Great way to burn competivie energy while fostering teamwork.

Our children's karate classes offer a fun and safe environment for kids to learn discipline, respect, and self-defense skills. Our experienced instructors focus on teaching traditional martial arts techniques while also emphasizing the importance of concentration and physical fitness. With a structured curriculum and positive reinforcement, the classes aim to build confidence and improve coordination in children of all skill levels. Our goal is to instill valuable life lessons and promote a healthy, active lifestyle through the practice of karate.

Pickleball can be a fun and engaging way for kids to develop their hand-eye coordination, and agility. It offers physical health and mental health benefits. It's a fun and social activity that can improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength, balance, and coordination. Also, pickleball can help reduce stress, improve mental well-being, and enhance cognitive skills.

Dedicated to providing quality tennis instruction to culturally diverse, inner-city youth as a tool that supports and enhances their personal growth, physical health and academic achievement. Structured tennis instruction is an excellent vehicle for building character, developing discipline, and promoting physical fitness and mental alertness. Please note that all participants must be at least 6 years old.

Do you like to run? If so, this is the class for you. It improves individual performance as well as teamwork. This active sport includes a wide range of events, including sprints, long-distance races, relays, and hurdles. There are also opportunities to participate in Colgate Games, Nationals and various invitationals under USATF.

animal adventures

Help your favorite monkey escape from the zoo! Join the Circus Ship with a troupe of animal performers! Through theater games and improvisation, kids explore their inner Wild Thing. (Tails and tales provided). Students unleash their imaginations and tap into their intrinsic sense of play in this vibrant theater class. Theater games, improv, and sophisticated dramatic play support learning and meaningful connections with peers. Best of all, these classes help young children explore empathy, literacy and boost their self-esteem in a fun, joyful environment.

Ballet Dance

This class will introduce students to basic ballet technique. They will learn proper body placement, leaps, turns, and jumps. Students will learn how to move rhythmically to various musical genres with choreographed dances. There will be a showcase performance at the end of the cycle.

Drama

Musical theatre is a wonderful reflection of life in all its varied forms. During this drama class, children will explore their imagination and learn how to communicate their ideas through telling stories, improvisation, and by portraying characters. Builds Confidence and Self-Esteem, encourages teamwork and FUN!!! Students will have the opportunity to perform a fictional role in our stage production at the end of the cycle.

Dramatic Play

In this class, children will have the opportunity to reenact everyday actions or situations that they observe, engage in intensely imaginative activities based on knowledge they gain from books, movies, and other sources, retell and reenact stories, and act out songs.

Guitar

Sign your child up for small group guitar lessons with Mr. Oleg, our talented music instructor. During each lesson your child will learn to play chords and simple songs with proper guitar technique. Instruments are provided for in-class instruction. It is recommended that families acquire a guitar for practice at home. Students will receive a specific time slot before the second week of class.

Hip Hop Dance

In this Hip Hop Dance class, the students will learn the culture of the genre and how it relates to movement. They will learn the fundamentals and dance forms of the style such as choreography, popping, locking, and freestyle. With new and exciting choreography each week, students gain the confidence to perform on stage or in front of a camera.There will be a showcase performance at the end of the cycle.

improv

Yes...And! In this dynamic improv class, students learn the tools to think on their feet, listen and respond with wit, and be creative in the moment. We start each class with warm-ups, shaking out inhibitions, and then we move into games that foster collaboration. Finally, we work toward a fully realized (and funny!) final show - no script necessary! Kids get practice being spontaneous, collaborative and hilarious while making something they can be proud of. Improvisation is not only a great part of the actor’s toolbox, it is a powerful social skill that gets kids trusting their instincts, shifting perspective, and most importantly having fun!

ocean adventures

Grab your goggles and join us as we become pirate princesses, sea dragons and schools of funny fish in this dynamic theater class! Led by professionally trained actors, students travel to the ocean’s depths on fantastical creatures and build their very own seashore to play on. Great children's lit and music inspires our adventures and our new underwater plays, culminating in a “fin”tastic final showcase! These classes help kids explore empathy, learn to collaborate and boost their self-esteem in a fun, joyous environment.

Our Small Group lessons foster a comfortable and fun environment for students to become interested in Music through the Piano. SINGING

Students learn about vocal technique, rhythm, melody, and harmony while practicing and performing as the dynamic “PS11 Young Voices Chorus.” Our goal is to develop strong singers who perform fearlessly and joyfully alongside their peers. They will sing songs that are a mix of new and old, from pop songs to classic R&B hits. There will be a showcase performance at the end of the cycle.

super heroes on stage

Led by professionally-trained actors, kids flex their imaginative muscles and learn the basics of vocal warm-ups, character development, singing and choreography. Join us as we go “Into the Woods” to reverse the curse of an enchantress and connect the dots of our fairy tales through song and dance. Singing songs as Cinderella, Jack, and Little Red, we’ll work together to climb beanstalks, wear glass slippers to a ball, and adventure to grandmother’s house. Self-expression and artistry are the name of the game! The final show of songs and games is a treat for all!

baking

Baking classes will highlight the use of fresh ingredients. The overall theme is to teach students the ‘science’ of baking, and how, at heart, most great bakers are really good chemists. At the end of each session, students will present a spread of dishes they have learned to make.

Through chess, children develop fundamental lessons of life. Enlighten concentration, logical thought, foresight and planning, pattern recognition as well as developing creative solutions. This class teaches self-discipline and taking responsibility through the game of Chess. Come learn to strategically maneuver knights, rooks, kings, queens and CONQUER! Students have the opportunity to participate in tournaments, as well as local and state championships.

Coding wITH Scratch, Minecraft + More

Scratch is a fun and exciting coding program developed to meet the interests of younger students. In this course, students will be introduced to fundamental programming concepts. Students will learn how to create animations, computer games, and interactive projects using Scratch, a graphical programming language developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At the end of the course, students create their own computer game and share it with their instructor and classmates. No previous programming skills are required, but students should be comfortable using a computer and browser.

Join us for cooking adventures around the world! We will visit different countries across the world with our fun, hands-on, cooking classes from-scratch. This class is great for students of all ages and provides a platform for a lifetime of adventurous eating and purposeful life-skills. Classes focus on international cuisine and food history. DIGITAL MUSIC PRODUCTION

Concorde Education’s music class teaches students to work with Digital Audio Workstations (DAW). Students will learn: The skills required to be a modern music producer; the basics of recording, mixing, and editing in a DAW; how to share finished songs or instrumentals online so that others can download or stream finished music; and basic music theory which will help develop and organize musical ideas. Students will be able to show progress on the music they are developing and working on.

The Engineering Club will focus on math and engineering, using inquiry-based and project based learning to challenge students in an exploration of these subjects. The group will explore logic related questions and work on fun projects that challenge the mind.

The Engineering Club encourages students to become problem-solvers and critical thinkers using hands-on activities that are both fun and challenging. We will focus on physical science concepts to deepen our understanding about force, motion, friction, and energy. Teams will build wind-powered water lifts, catapults, electric circuit-powered insects, mazes, parachutes, and solar-powered systems.

Animation & Modern Art for Kids

Spark your child’s creativity with this exciting art class. Students will learn different art techniques and work with unique textures while creating their own artistic masterpieces. This class allows students to build confidence in their own artistic ability while having fun in the process.

Get ready to sparkle and shine! In this interactive class, students will Bling It On, unleash their creativity and transform everyday items into one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Our "Bling It On" class offers four exciting projects: Upcycled Denim Purse, Blinged-Out Denim Jackets, Customized Sneakers, and Blinged-Out Socks. This class will encourage creativity and self-expression, develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, foster problem-solving and critical thinking, promote sustainability through upcycling.

Materials:  Denim jeans, bling supplies, ex., gemstones, and rhinestones of different shapes and sizes (will be supplied). Students will bring their own sneakers and socks.

Ceramics is a Created by Kids arts program that provides the skill and materials for your child to explore their artistic abilities in a encouraging, engaging environment. Each student gets a double dose of creativity - first, we learn about the history behind the projects we do, examining the works of famous working artists for inspiration. Then we use this knowledge to jumpstart their imaginations and take their ideas to the next level. Engaging with art studies in this manner has proven to have far-reaching implications in every child's life, whether they pursue art-making later in life or not, and for younger students, it can also help to refine important motor skills.

This class focuses on the fundamentals of creating an animated short. Designed to cover 2D and/or 3D animation, students will be able to utilize several skills in their work including frame rate, keyframes, tweeting, easing, character/puppet design, and basic blocking and movement. sewing 101

Sewing 101 will start with the basics, taking students step by step through all the essentials in order to create original designs starting from scratch! During this course, students will learn all of the necessary sewing terminology & equipment, how to identify and choose the right fabric for a garment, and different types of stitches & seam finishes both by hand and using a sewing machine, completing exciting projects in the process including small bags and button-able totes! All the skills learned in this class will be adaptable and applicable to modern sewing projects and needs, including fixing personal fabric items or creating your own personal patterns.

World Languages

french and spanish immersion classes

We are excited to continue our After School Enrichment World Language Program.
Students will have a full immersion experience in either French or Spanish while learning new vocabulary words each day in a fun and exciting way. Classes will take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
